It is the type species of the genus ''Acompsia'', once assigned to the proposed subfamily "Anacampsinae" (here included in Gelechiinae), but generally placed in the Dichomeridinae. It is found in most of Europe, except for Portugal and Iceland. The wingspan is 16–19 mm. Adults are on wing from June to July.
